What’s better than the scent of the forest? What’s better than the scent of a newborn? How about the scent of both! The combo scent of earthy freshness of the trees with pure comfort from baby was so lovely to experience. This, plus the gorgeous visuals of morning light streaming though the forest created such a uniquely wonderful Sunday morning photoshoot with Mina at the UC Botanical Gardens in Berkeley.

Shout out to Mina’s awesome parent’s who wanted their first family photos to be at at a space they loved, the outdoors. Who says newborn photos have to be indoors anyway? Sometimes Mother Nature is home.

Have you stopped to smell the roses? Stopping to smell the roses is our reminder to enjoy all the beauty of the world around us and live a life of gratitude for all we have. I’m so glad that the Liu family suggested the dreamy rose filled Heather Farms Gardens located in Walnut Creek for their family photoshoot. I loved capturing them as they took time from their lives to stop and smell the roses, be fully present with their babies, and appreciate all the joy in their lives.

Baby K turned one year old and commemorated the big milestone with a birthday + extended family photoshoot. Kiana was absolutely adorable in her lace white romper and knee socks with bows, but even more adorable was her cherub face and bright eyes. Her family, who flew in from out of town to celebrate her, matched her vibe with a light colors palette full of texture. Everyone was dressed so perfectly, I couldn’t ask for a more photogenic and fun family!

Doris asked me to do a Howl’s Moving Castle cosplay photoshoot and told me she even dyed her hair a silvery blonde for it! At first I wasn’t quite sure if I was the right person for the job (I usually photograph babies and families these days) but Doris trusted me anyway, like she did 10 years ago when I asked her climb a tree for a photoshoot, and I’m so glad we she did!
