What to expect

We will do a mix of posed and unposed shots. I’ll do my best to capture plenty of candid in between moments. I like to focus on connection, so there will be a lot of snuggles!  So be prepared to show a lot of love to each other! The photoshoot will last about 2 hours.

Where will we shoot

When I arrive I will scope out your house to find the rooms with the best light. I primarily shoot in the living room and master bedroom because this is where family life happens. If you have a nursery, I love capturing detail shots in there.  I typically end the shoot with stepping outside and getting some portraits on your front porch or backyard.

How to prepare your house:

You've just had a baby and sleep is minimal so please don’t stress too much about a spot free home (because dust/small stains don’t show up on camera) but do try to declutter (mainly the couch and bed area) if you can. Since I am a natural light photographer, please turn off lamps and open curtains to let the light in.

Please play your favorite music in the background to set the mood.  Optional: Feel free to unwind with white wine (no red please) or cookies to feel relaxed during the shoot.

FULL BELLIES

We want everyone to be in a great mood, so have a great breakfast and/or snacks before the shoot.  Most importantly feed baby close to my arrival.  If baby is fussy, no worries, baby’s needs come first so we’ll go with the flow of whatever baby wants.   During diaper changes or feedings, I will continue to photograph to document life as it is.

What to wear

Wear what makes you feel happy, comfortable, and showcases your personality. Neutrals are always classic, but color can be great too. For family outfits: coordinating is better than matching. Flowy materials and soft textures all photograph really well. I would try to avoid bold logos and distracting patterns.  For baby, simple outfits work best.  No matter what you wear, I'm sure your family will look amazing!  For more detailed advice click the guide:

WHAT SHOULD BABY WEAR?

Babies look best in natural tones.

Safety

During these times my number one concern is the health of your family.  All my equipment will be washed and sanitized. Right before meeting I will sanitize my hands of course.
